Set up your VacantView kit

Your kit comes with a printed Quick Start Guide in the case lid. This page follows the same steps, with a link to the full instructions for each one. You can also download the Quick Start Guide: VacantView Quick Start Guide (PDF).

Before you start

  • Install Swidget wiring devices. The cameras and sensors are inserts that plug into Swidget outlets (R1015SWA) and/or switches (S16001WA), sold separately. Install these in the key areas of the property first. See Install Swidget Wiring Devices.
  • Check the cell signal. Confirm the property has cellular reception for the kit's LTE hotspot.
  • Keep the security cards. The Swidget insert security cards and the VacantView SIM card in your kit are unique to each device and are required for system installation. Keep them with the Quick Start Guide inside the case lid.

Set up the kit

  1. Install the inserts and hotspot. Carefully screw on the antennas, plug in the LTE hotspot in a central location and hold down the power button until the light turns solid green. Install each insert into a Swidget wiring device, with the pins on the back of the insert aligned with the ones on the wiring device. See Install Inserts and Hotspot.
  2. Create your VacantView account at dashboard.vacantview.com. See Create a VacantView account.
  3. Enter your payment information. The dashboard asks for a credit card the first time you log in. Your credit card will not be charged until a kit is added. See Enter Credit Card Payment Information.
  4. Get the Swidget app from your app store. See Get the Swidget App.
  5. Log in and add the kit. Open the Swidget app and log in with your VacantView account. Tap +, select Scan QR code and scan the QR code on your hotspot. See Sign in to Swidget App and Activate Kit.
  6. Rename the kit and assign it to a property. Under Kit Name, type the name you want for the kit. Tap the Property field, tap +, add the property address and tap Save.
  7. Ready to monitor. Use the Swidget app or the dashboard at dashboard.vacantview.com.
